ICOM Läti kutsub Balti ja Põhjamaade kolleege osalema online seminariseerial "Hot potato in Museology" 10.-11. detsembril.
ICOM Latvia is pleased to invite colleagues from the Baltic and Nordic countries, as well as the wider museum community, to a two-part online follow-up seminar reflecting on key themes discussed at the ICOM General Conference 2024 in Dubai. The program is designed especially for those who were unable to attend the conference in person, offering an opportunity to hear updates, engage with current debates, and discuss issues that are central to the global ICOM community.

 Part I – 10 December, 16:00–17:00 Riga time (15:00–16:00 CET)

This session will focus on two important areas of ICOM’s current work:

   -
   ICOM for Peace initiative – presentation by Kaja Širok, ICOM Slovenia,
   member of the ICOM Executive Board (2022–2025) and (2025–2028);
   -
   ICOM initiatives on Illicit trafficking of cultural property –
   presentation by Sophie Delepierre, Head of Protection Heritage and
   Capacity building Department, ICOM Secretariat

Each presentation will be followed by a short Q&A.

 Part II – 11 December, 13:00–14:00 Riga time (12:00–13:00 CET)

The second session brings together key voices from ICOM’s leadership and professional community:

   -
   “Global Engagement Opportunities for Latvian Museums” by Antonio
   Rodríguez, newly elected President of ICOM;
   -
   Development of the new ICOM Code of Ethics presentation by Bruno Brulon
   Soares, ICOM Brazil, ICOM Ethics Committee member (2023–2026)

Each presentation will be followed by a short Q&A.Both seminars will take place on Zoom. For Latvian participants, translation will be provided. The seminar series is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia.
